UAAP Season 73 Opening Ceremony

Let the games begin.

UAAP is now on its 73rd Season!
This year the hosting school, my alma mater,
De La Salle University-Manila,
prepared for a tremendous opening number with all
the different organizations from
DLSU, DLS-CSB, and La Salle Greenhills.
A soulful song number
was also performed by Mr. Ogie Alcasid
and an energetic song and dance number
was performed by DLSU's very own alumnus,
Mr. Gary Valenciano together with the Maneouvers.
A teaser for all the participating schools was made by a
well-known director, Mr. Mark Reyes.

The opening number was awesome and
everyone rocked the Big Dome.
I saw the excitement in the faces of all
the Lasallians who went there to support.
To top it all of,
DLSU Green Archers won against UP Maroon by 18points.
What a good way to start the season, eh? ;)

I am so PROUD to be part of this big event.
Big congrats to my crew, Skittlez,
for being one of the crews who performed for this
once in a lifetime opportunity.
All those sleepless nights and
countless times we've practiced the dances are worth it.
I feel like I made a big mark
before leaving the university.

And so here are the clips from the opening ceremony
of this year's UAAP league.
Manila, are you ready for another year of battle and action?
This is where HEROES are made.

"Showdown" with the heroes

Remix'09: Kabataang Lasalyano

Remix '09: Kabataang Lasalyano
is a project of the La Salle Dance Company
together with our advisers
Mr. Peter Alcedo Jr. and
Ms. Mycs Villoso.
It's advocacy which is for the Filipino youth
to know and practice their rights and privileges
somehow touched the audience's mind.
Believing that they could stand up and
exercise the right to VOTE
and to VOICE out their ideas
were shown during the competition
through dance.

Together with the Cultural Arts Office,
we welcomed every Lasallian youth
who participated in the said dance competition
to showcase their talents.
Every concept and ideas that the groups have shown
were spectacular and worth watching.
The true meaning of nationalism and oneness
filled the whole auditorium of Teresa Yuchengco Building
at De La Salle University Manila.
I'm proud of you!
All of you :)

Congratulations to all the winners!

Champion: ComOne Ground
2d Place: New Breed Crew
3d Place: Team Elite

And of course,
congratulations LSDC!
We all made this event possible
and successful
even if there were a lot of
miscommunication and carelessness.
I also want to congratulate LSDC
for a remarkable dance performance
entitled "Panata sa Bayan"
choreographed by
Sir Peter and Coach Mycs.

Thank you to Ms. Mae Paner a.k.a Juana Change
for the intermission number!
We sure did get your message
from that awesome song and dance number. :)

And to end this blog post,
I am going to share to everyone the famous phrase
"No man is an island."
I have learned that no matter how easy or
how hard your job is,
sometimes you have learn to ask help from friends
or colleagues.
You will learn a lot from them.
I have thrived from this project
because of some happenings that I could not control. :)
I am glad that in crunch times,
I know who to ask help from. :)

Juson D' Party

This is the despedida/ send-off party
to one of my colleagues, Ramon Juson or RJ to many.
He is leaving for Canada for good. :(
RJ is the former company manager/president of LSDC-Street.
And one year with him (projects, concerts, etc.)
is really memorable and fun.
It saddens most of us because we won't be able
to dance and hang-out
with him anymore, at least for now.
Anyway, the party was held at Lexi's place
at 10th Street, New Manila QC.

LSDC-Jazz went there on time. :)
Hahahaha
Present that day:
Kate, Rika, Mon, Nads, Kim, Gayle, Evan, and Totie

The party's fun esp.
when we were watching the surprise video

and reminiscing RJ's "good old days." :))
The hosts that night were Gino and Ate Chesca of LSDC-Street.
There were fun games and yummy food at the party too.
(I like the hotdog on stick with mallows :D)

And here's a photograph of me
while chatting with friends...
I had a great night. :)
Thank you so much for inviting us, RJ.
Take care and don't ever forget us. :)
We'll keep in touch aryt?
I know you're feeling sad and heartbroken now.
Just remember that no matter how far you are
there's always YM and FB where we could update
and chat. :)
I'm happy you're with your family already.

Smile because you are
one step forward in seeing us again. :)
We will miss you.

Cultural Arts Office's Awards Night 2009

CAO's annual awards night
was smooth and short.
It was held at the DLSU's Sports Complex.
Yeah I know, the place is not so appropriate
for our superb chic outfit. Haha
Anyway, the theme was fashion show with a twist.
As I have mentioned in my previous post,
LSDC-Jazz/Contemporary's twist was either belt or suspenders.
We, TEAMFAB, were fashionably late, as usual.
Good thing I was right on time.
I was asked to present an award with Matthew.
We were seated at the back so I can't remember who won what. :(
I just heard the group's scream
when they were announced as the winner.
But yeah, congratulations to all the winners
esp. LSDC-Street and Harlequin Theater Guild
for taking home 2-3 awards that night. :)

Everyone was gorgeous and handsome. :)
Go ahead and take a look. *wink*

Best That You Can Bee

At last, we are now allowed to tell
the whole world what the event is all about.
Apparently, the dance mania
is just a strategy of Jollibee to be able to reach out
to people not only here in the Philippines,
but also people in different countries around the globe. :)

So anyway,
here's the story of the "mystery" event.
The La Salle Dance Company and the
Harlequin Theater Guild
were asked to audition in a VTR last July.
We were also asked to dance
to the tune of Jai Ho by Pussycat Dolls.

After a week or two,
ALMOST everyone got a text message
from the production of the said event, Stratworks.
We were asked to go to the rehearsals
and there they spilled all the glory details.
It was a campaign ad for the Regular Yum of Jollibee.
And I was so shocked to see 300+ people
in the rehearsal place.
Guess what?
We all danced together.
We just beat the record. Hahaha
The event was successful. :)
It should be!
After practicing 2 consecutive days (9pm-3am)
just to "perfect" the dance steps...

Anyhoooo, here's the video of our dance.

Note: The mall shoppers have no idea
about this event. Like what I said, this was
a top secret of Jollibee. :D
Btw, I'm the one wearing the black and white dress :P

Thank you so much Jollibee
for this opportunity.
I enjoyed the free food
and of course, this once in a lifetime experience-
to be part of a historical event.

Hello, 9am calltime! With Paula

While performing...
While waiting for the 1st performance
btw, we danced twice. 12:30pm and 4:30pm :)

Everyone was so sleepy after the 1st performance
All set for the 2d performance :)

Also, don't forget to check their website!
