Horton Hears A Who!

Horton Hears A Who!
is a book written by Dr. Seuss
for young readers.
It was filmed early last year by Blue Skies Studios.

My ECEDLIT (Literature in Early Childhood Education)
professor, Mrs. Kristine Canon, asked us to watch
the film and to compare it to the book.
I find the movie more interesting than the book.
The book was written quite okay
and the illustrations were very fancy;
however, there are certain things
that are not appropriate for young children.
There were a lot of changes in the film
just to make it more subtle and more suitable
for the young ones
.
In the film...
  1. Mayor Ned McDodd has 96 children where in it was not written in the book
  2. baby kangaroo was very nice in the film
  3. the setting was more extravagant in the film than it was described in the book
  4. the process of saving the spec was changed
  5. added characters such as the eagle is not found in the book
After watching the film,
I did a little research about it.
And now I know why the book was written drastically. :)
Dr. Seuss wrote the book during the World War II
to let his anger out against the Japanese.
Hmmm so that's why. :)

Anyway, the movie is very cute and
I really recommend children to watch it.
They may not know the real reason on why
the book was written, but the moral lesson
of the book is still applicable to young children-
a person's a person, no matter how small.

Pictures of some of my favorite characters:

Mayor Ned and Horton while singing
A rabbit who suddenly appeared almost at the end of the movie

Katie, a very cute, small, baby yak (Horton's student)
